A Proud Moment: Spreading Light Through Success and Generosity
The core mantra of ‘Sukher Chador’ is: Stay well, Keep Well. Today senior member of Sukher Chador, Asit Kumar Banerjee, has taken a generous and humble step to make others happy alongwith their own happiness.
On the occasion of his elder daughter Dr. Arunima Banerjee’s promotion as Lead Scientist at GE Research, he has donated cash amount of Rs 10,000/- at the ‘Shikkha Jyoti’ project of Sukher Chador to support the education of underprivileged children.
We are proud of member Asit Banerjee and his daughter Dr. Arunima. We wish her many more such achievements in life.

🛖 They will study,
They will play,
They will grow up to be good human beings 🛖
It’s almost been two years since Sukher Pathshala (The School of Happiness) began its journey deep within the sal, teak, and sonajhuri forests, 8 kilometers beyond Gopiballavpur in Jhargram.
In the winter of 2022, while providing support to rural communities, we discovered Dakdahi, a small tribal Munda village consisting of 25 families. After conducting a thorough needs assessment, and with the help of Sumit and his team from the organization Ek Muttho Swapno, we built a thatched-roof hut in May 2023 and started our school with 24 children and two teachers.
Today, that little hut has transformed. The student count has grown to 50, supported by 5 teaching and non-teaching staff. The once-mud floor has now been concreted. With the help of our kind-hearted friend Dolon, a larger classroom has been built. We have fenced the school on three sides with pillars and wire mesh, and a proper gate has been installed.
Around the school and along the paths outside, two dozen trees — Palash, Saptaparni, Bakul, Karabi, Bashontika, and Bougainvillea — have been planted and bordered with bricks. With the support of parents from Joya’s KIDZEE School, two toilets have been built for the children.
In the heart of the village, we’ve installed cement benches for the villagers to sit and a large wall board that displays inspirational quotes from great minds every day. We’ve also set up a tailoring training center for the village women, and plans are in place to help some of the men become self-reliant.
Children at the school now receive varied nutritious snacks six days a week, and we’re considering adding milk to their daily diet.
Just yesterday — almost two years later — the old classroom’s thatched roof was freshly redone. One side of the school still needs to be fenced. We’re in urgent need of a submersible pump for clean drinking water, 10 high and low wooden benches, and 2 more teachers.
We remain deeply grateful to our kind-hearted friends who have stood by Sukher Chador in many ways at different times. Many well-wishers take on the responsibility of providing weekly or monthly snacks for the children, often on their own child’s birthday.
However, as per our policy, we refrain from distributing food or cutting cakes at the school based on individual preferences. We are committed to maintaining a balanced routine for the children to keep them away from the temptation of occasional indulgence. These kids are happy with little — and so are we.
Our ultimate goal is to educate these children and raise them into good human beings, while transforming Dakdahi into a true “Village of Happiness.”
Stay well. Keep spreading goodness.

A Heartfelt Tribute to Manaswita: A Day of Remembrance and Blessings
Today was the birthday of Manaswita, the beloved daughter of Ruby Basu Di and Manoj Da.
A child’s birthday is always the greatest joy and blessing for any parent. But, sadly, that’s not always the case for everyone. When the journey of a brilliant scholar’s life comes to an abrupt halt, only the parents truly know the depth of that pain — the same pain that Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore felt time and again in his own life. Ruby Di and Manoj Da carry that very same feeling in their hearts every single day — especially on a day like today.
Ruby Di finds her strength to carry on in the songs of Gurudev.
Today, Ruby Di, along with her sister, brother-in-law, and brother, came all the way from Newtown to the Sukher Chador office in New Barrackpore. They spent over an hour engaging in detailed discussions, learning about the activities and projects of Sukher Chador.
When they came to know that among Sukher Chador’s 12 long-term projects, there is also a “Shiksha Jyoti” project dedicated to building future doctors, their happiness was evident.
Incidentally, Ruby Di’s son is a renowned spine surgeon in Kolkata. It is worth mentioning that Ruby Di’s sister, Sharmistha Basu Di, and Subhash Da were present at Sukher Chador’s very first event back in 2017 at Probartak, Salt Lake.
Today, in memory of their daughter Manaswita, the family made a special donation towards the Shiksha Jyoti project. Additionally, they expressed their desire to take responsibility for supporting the monthly expenses of one future medical student — a gesture that is a priceless blessing for us. Sharmistha Di also contributed financial support to Sukher Chador.
For us, today was a day of great joy — because it’s not every day that someone visits us with such genuine interest in learning about Sukher Chador’s work and expresses their satisfaction by placing their hands on our heads with blessings.
All of us brothers and sisters from Sukher Chador offer our heartfelt respect to Manaswita and pray for the eternal peace of her soul. To the entire family, we say — please come again.
Stay well, and keep spreading goodness.

Shubhajit Nandi: A Journey of Talent and Determination
📖 🖋 Shubhajit Nandi, a Rising Star from Chuchura
Shubhajit Nandi, a young boy from Chuchura, grew up in a small tiled house. His father’s monthly income is barely ₹4000, while his mother earns ₹1000 by tutoring a child and making paper bags. Yet, financial struggles could not hinder Shubhajit’s brilliance.
He secured the 8th rank in the Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search Examination in West Bengal. Incidentally, my younger son, Soumyadeep, secured the 18th position. It was at a five-day camp for the top 100 students of West Bengal that we met.
With the support of neighbors and school teachers, Shubhajit somehow manages to get books, notebooks, and pens. His mother humbly requested us to buy three books for him. Inspired by Sukher Chador, we visited their home today with three books, six notebooks, some pens and pencils, a geometry box, and other study materials.
Receiving these essentials brought them immense joy. Along with that, his mother made an earnest request for continued support for her son’s education. We firmly believe that Sukher Chador’s Shiksha Jyoti Project will help Shubhajit reach great heights.

Shiksha Jyoti’s Support for Education
Support from Shiksha Jyoti…
A great initiative was undertaken through the Shiksha Jyoti Study Project. At Sukher Chador, whenever we receive a request for assistance, we conduct an impartial survey and make a collective decision to extend our support in most cases. This time was no different.
For the talented yet financially struggling girl, Aratrika, who has lost her father, we have provided her school fees for the pending months in this study project for two consecutive years.
Sukher Chador always strives to personally reach out to those in need and hand over the assistance with care. This time was no exception. Our president and Shiksha Jyoti lead, Polakkhi, personally visited Aratrika at Behala Soker Bazar to hand over the cheque.
We sincerely wish Aratrika a bright future.

Study Project (One-Time Educational Assistance)
Yesterday, on March 8th, under the Shiksha Jyoti study project (one-time educational assistance), necessary books and notebooks were handed over to two talented twin daughters, Debaparna and Debanjana, who are residential students of Class 10 at Patha Bhavan, Visva-Bharati.
Smt. Aparna De, a resident of Cooch Behar, approached us with a request for some books for the education of her two daughters. After conducting the necessary survey, we learned that she had applied due to some financial difficulties. Both of her daughters are extremely talented.
Following this, the members of our executive committee collectively decided to provide this educational assistance. Accordingly, in the presence of Sukher Chador‘s editor, Mr. Sandeep Kumar Das, and advisory board member, Mr. Srikanta Mondal, the books and notebooks were handed over to them.
We wish Debaparna and Debanjana a bright future. May they achieve great success and fulfill all their dreams!

Empowering Bright Futures
In August 2023, Sukher Chador launched a new initiative under the Shiksha Jyoti Project. As part of this initiative, an MoU was signed with Technique Polytechnic Institute, Bandel, to provide full financial support for three meritorious yet financially underprivileged students to complete their Diploma in Engineering free of cost.
As per the agreement:
- In August 2023, Shukla Biswas secured admission in the 2nd year of Civil Engineering (the 1st year was waived due to her qualification in the Higher Secondary Examination).
- Rajesh Bhakta secured admission in the 1st year of Civil Engineering.
- In August 2024, Debraj Dule secured admission in the 1st year of Civil Engineering.
Today is a proud moment for Sukher Chador! Our daughter-student Shukla Biswas has successfully cleared her 5th semester with a GPA of 8.3 (81% marks). As a result, she has been selected for placement in two companies. Her final exam is scheduled for May, after which she will step into her professional career. This is indeed a moment of immense pride! We wish Shukla Biswas a bright future and hope she stands strong on her own feet.
Another proud student, Rajesh Bhakta, has shown excellent academic performance, securing GPA 8.4, 9.2, and 9.0 in his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semesters, respectively. His results are highly promising, and Sukher Chador extends its best wishes for his future. We hope he successfully completes his Diploma in Engineering by 2026 with honor.
On behalf of Sukher Chador, we extend our blessings and best wishes to both students. May their future be bright!

Project: Sikhya Jyoti of Sukher Chador
Sikhya, means education. education is the pillar of a strong and prosperous society or a country. Sukher Chador had always dreamt of making this pillar strong by giving a helping hand to that backward section of the society, where kids have the merit but are deprived of reaching their goals due to their financial crisis. Finally, Sukher Chador could make this dream come true, through its ” Sikhya Jyoti ” project. We hope to fulfill our dream of providing financial assistance to more and more underprivileged children of the society in the field of education with the help of our friends who have always been our source of encouragement.
